Barbara “Bobbie” Prindle, age 94, of West Haven passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Born on May 25, 1923, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late William and Lovern Young. She was a graduate of Milford High School Class of 1942. She lived in many locations including Illinois, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, and Connecticut as her father was a plumbing contractor for major projects.
Barbara met Everett “Bill” Prindle, the love of her life, at the Savin Rock rollerskating rink. They eloped to Maryland and were married on December 31, 1941. They lived in New Haven, CT for a few years before moving to West Haven in 1946.
Barbara was predeceased by Everett Prindle, her sister Geraldine Anderson, and her brother Hollis Young. She is survived by her four children Terry (Jeanne) Prindle, Barry Prindle, Bruce Prindle, and Mariane Prindle, brother Richard (Rusty) Young, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Living Word Church and the Vertical Church and was a member of their church prayer group. Barbara was a voracious reader of mystery novels and loved her gameshows, sitcoms and old movies on television.
A visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
