Obituary for Dominick Louis "Mickey" Morazzini
Dominick Louis “Mickey” Morazzini, age 93, of Orange passed away Wednesday February 28, 2018 at CT Hospice. He was the beloved husband of 71 years to Marie Antonino Morazzini. Loving father of David (Debra) Morazzini and Glenn (Pamela) Morazzini. Brother of Rose Capobianco and the late Mary Evangelista, Lena Vecchio, Peter, Frank and Anthony Morazzini. Grandfather of Daryl (Laura), Alanna (Chris), Tara (Mathew) and Russ (Sarah). Great Grandfather of Giulietta Morazzini and Giovanna Talvacchia. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late David and Angelina Bonetti Morazzini. Dominick honorably served in the U. S. Navy from 1942 to 1945 as a gunner on various Merchant Marine ships. On his first tour of duty his ship the SS Walter Camp was torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine. He spent seven days on a life raft in the Indian Ocean, later being rescued by a British cruiser, was brought to Port Said, Egypt and then returned to the United States. His remaining tour was transporting troops and supplies to England and the Mediterranean area. After his discharge he worked 19 years for Brinks Armored Car and then for the Orange Highway Department for 29 years as Crew Chief. He was a member of the American Legion Post #127. Dominick was a lover of life, family, friends and community.
The hours for visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home Monday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Infant Church at 10:00.
