Shirley E. DeCato, age 78, of West Haven, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 7, 2018. Born in New Haven on December 14, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Ellis and Shirley Olcott. Shirley is survived by her son Anthony P. DeCato, Jr. (Delilah Simeoli), grandchildren, Anthony P. DeCato III, Todd Patrick DeCato, Mandy Papale, Chrissy Case, Tammy MidDaugh, great grandchildren, Destiny DeAngelis, Shane Loomis, Selena Loomis, Mikey Papale, Matos Papale, Melania Papale and Liam DeAngelis, sister Dawn Doyle, several aunts, nieces, nephews cousins, and friends, especially Ellie Beadle and Mary Ann DeAngelis, and by her ever loving companion of 46 years, Vincent “Chuck” Yarochowicz. Shirley was predeceased by her daughter Cindy Case and her husband Anthony P. DeCato, Sr.
She will be remembered for her selflessness and how she always strived to help others. Shirley was affectionately known as Nanny Fingers and Nanny Music, to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed classic cars, including her 1967 Chevelle and 1967 Galaxy 500. She loved to dance, animals, and spending time at the beach.
Visitation hours will be on Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park.
