Anthony Sanchez Sr.
Anthony David Sanchez, Sr., age 89, of Milford, beloved husband of Marion “Tina” (Maher) Sanchez, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Milford Hospital with his two sons by his side. Born in Bridgeport on January 31, 1929, he was the son of the late Anthony C. and Irene (Hansen) Sanchez.
Tony was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked for CL&P for 21 years as an IBEW Local 457 Union gasfitter. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and loved travelling to important sites in American history. He enjoyed playing softball well into his 70s and was also a bowler, gardener, and builder of model airplanes.
In addition to his loving wife Tina, Tony is survived by his sons, Anthony D. (Paula) Sanchez, Jr., Bradley K. (Marlene) Sanchez, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and sister Irene Gasperrini. He was predeceased by his son David J. Sanchez and his brother Richard Hansen.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 14 at 10:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Milford. Burial with military honors will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery on Buckingham Ave., Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Camp Happiness (care of Milford Recreation Dept., 70 West River St., Milford) or Connecticut Hospice. The West Haven Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
